John Hudson

John’s new body of work, created this past year, creates tension between tranquility and disruption / uncertainty and resolve. Various narratives and metaphors are used to connect and at the same time, leave an element of mystery and discovery in the quest to attain a balance that can be so illusive. At the same time, experimenting with self-imposed rules, limits, and processes. His primary source of inspiration comes from spending nearly his entire life around the ocean, which is where the idea of using fiberglass vs. canvas came from. Mix that with being heavily inspired by architecture in Los Angeles – this is where the ideas of constructing building wood structures in back of the fiberglass paintings comes from. In many ways, John’s work is quite personal – allowing narrative, language, his inner passion’s to his culturally diverse upbringing experiences in Los Angeles.
