Q: How long have you been painting?

A: Seriously and with focus since 1994.

Q: Who are some of your greatest influences?

A: Rothko, Basquiat, R. Crumb, Pollack

Q: What inspired you to get into the arts?

A: Boredom.

Q: Why drawing rather than another medium?

A: It’s good for introverts.

Q: What are your favorite materials to work with?

A: Pencil, eraser and paper.

Q: What kind of work do you own or show in your house or do you only have your own work displayed?

A: I own art my friends have made…a Kevin Evenson triptych – my roommate in the mission district, a drawing of a woman in bondage by SANO, an L.A. based graffiti artist, a photo of Cypress Hill by Estevan Oriol, etc.. I like looking at work that takes me back to a time and place I remember myself.

Q: What is the philosophy behind your work?

A: Women are allowed to express themselves.
